Director J.J. Abrams recently confirmed that indeed the Star Wars: Episode VII production would exclude him from making Star Trek 3. While Abrams would still help out with it’s story and sticking around a producer. Abrams production company Bad Robot will also be still involved. The next step was for Paramount to find a new director for the third installment. Which is currently aiming for an early 2014 production shoot according to actor Zachary Quinto. Back in May, LatinoReview had hinted that Paramount was eying director Joe Cornish for the gig. Cornish is best known as the writing partner of Edgar Wright. Working together on Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of The Unicorn. Wright directed a couple of shots in Star Trek Into Darkness which he had teased over the summer. Joe also wrote and directed his own sci-fi comedy indie Attack The Block. Deadline is bringing his name up again. Confirming that Joe is now the front-runner for the director’s chair. At one point 20th Century Fox was considering Cornish to direct A Good Day To Die Hard.
