SAVE FERRIS! Fanboys Unite To Help One of Our Own

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve been knocked down by this dirty rabbit punch of a recession. While I’ve been able to get back on my feet thanks to the the support of others, there are still too many people who are down and out. With that in mind, I’d like to talk about the Save Ferris project.

Ferris is a gamer, husband, and a father of four. During the “Great Recession”, he lost his jobs alongside millions of Americans. While unemployed, his kidneys failed, leaving him and his family in an incredibly difficult situation . Weakened by that ordeal, he can’t return to his previous field (even if they were hiring). So what’s a guy to do?

Well, I think we can help.  Ferris’s close friend (and game developer) Davis Sickmon has a plan to get him back on his feet.

Here’s his message:

I want to bring him into my company, train him, and hire him for a two year period using YOUR donations to help make that happen! In that time we’ll build 5 video games and Ferris will be fully trained in Game Development on multiple platforms (iPhone / iPad, Android, PC, and Mac.) Oh, and for your donation, we give you cool things, including betas, books, video games, advertising slots, and of course, a hearty thank you. And I’m sure we’ll be adding more goodies as time rolls on!

We can make an actual, tangible difference. Your money isn’t going into a giant “charity” machine, where only a fraction of your donation is delivered to victims. Instead, we’re actually creating a job, a livelihood, a new face for the gaming industry.

Fandom is more than a bunch of crazy guys basking in the glory of superhero comics and cosplay, we’re a community, and this is our chance to act like one.
