Uncanny X-Force #2 Review

Previously in Uncanny X-Force:

  • Fantomex & Psylocke broke up (awwww)
  • Fantomex & his female clone?…are now together (ewww)
  • Storm & Psylocke team-up with Puck to track down the distributor of a drug called “Tao”
  • That seller is the six-armed ninja, Spiral (Her and Psylocke have beef)
  • Oh and Bishop is back so there’s that

Locked down in fight with Tao addicts, how will Psylocke & her team take down Spiral? and when is she joining the team?

Here is the summary from Marvel:

Bishop vs. Uncanny X-Force! What secrets does the man with the “M” on his face bring from the future?

Psylocke continues to fight the people in the club while Storm & Puck are hot on Spiral’s trail. The team continues to gel together (albeit with the qualities of oil & water) as more and more fallout from Remender’s run on the book is explored. The whole thing between Fantomex & Cluster is still a bit unnerving but it does have it’s humorous moments (like Fantomex stealing both President Obama’s & Queen Elizabeth’s toothbrushes and giving them to her as a present at a dinner in a ship they stole.

Sam Humphries tries to put his own spin on the team but ultimately, not much happens in this issue. A lot of the elements he’s introduced don’t really go that well together and it makes the book come off as a bit boring. Not much is explained here like first issue…but hey Bishop makes an appearance and does something as opposed to the 1st issue where he was just there.

Ron Garney’s art is nice enough, he conveys his action scenes well, and his splash pages are pretty well done. Even though it lacks details at times, it gets the job done.

While not a bad book, Uncanny X-Force finds itself caught under the weight of Remender’s run on the book (which in my opinion was one of the best X-Men books in years), things are starting to fall together (albeit rather clumsily) and we will see where it goes from here.
