Tons of Batman Villains Join Injustice

We’re just a couple months from the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us and new details are coming out almost daily. Thursday we learned from a pic tweeted by Creative Directer Ed Boon that Bat villains Killer Croc, the Riddler, and the Penguin would all be appearing in the game in some capacity.

Friday, as part the Injustice Battle Arena, NetherRealm Studios and DC Comics released a video that reveals the villains’ role.

We’ve known for a while that Arkham Asylum was one of the game’s stages, but this is the first time we’ve seen it in action.

First you’ll notice that the cell to the left has a bunch of giant plants outside it, which  presumably belong to Poison Ivy. They’re probably an interactive part of the stage that players can use to attack their opponent. The cell on the right is iced over, and has a pipe that can be used to freeze your enemy for a second, suggesting that cell belongs to Mr. Freeze. You can also knock your opponent through a wall into what appears to be the Arkham cafeteria, and that’s where most of the villains actually appear. Croc throws the combatant into Penguin’s umbrella, then they’re hit over the head by Two-Face and slammed with a cane by the Riddler before Croc comes back to knock them into the next area, the kitchen, where normal battle resumes.

All this suggests that Croc, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face, Ivy, and Freeze won’t be appearing as playable characters. JokerBaneCatwoman, and, of course, Harley Quinn are all playable, but that leaves plenty of Bat villains still up in the air.  Clayface and Man-bat both have the physical focus you expect from the fighters in this game, but Ra’s Al Ghul, armed with a sword, or Mr. Zsasz, duel-wielding knives, could both work. I personally would like to see the Scarecrow, but I’m not optimistic. What other characters would you like to see in Injustice?
