Think Tank #7 Review

Is a comic that challenges your preconceived notions of the world really worth your money and time?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Image:

Dr. David Loren’s work on the 36 barrel/600 rounds per minute Metalstorm led to an epiphany that he no longer wanted to create inventions of destruction for the military. But David has lived a sheltered life behind the barricades of a government-contracted think tank and has never directly been forced to come face to face with the deadly consequences of his actions… until now.

If life for a normal person is a series of seemingly inexplicable connections and events based solely on chance, than the world of military grade genius Dr. David Loren is like that but minus the chaotic question of what might happen.  As the latest issue proves the creative team has done a great job of selling that concept as this intelligent but rebellious main character allows his brilliance to fall into place.

Matt Hawkins pens the script and the scribe impresses me from the first page to the final panel.  His grasp on geopolitical prospects and logical scientific expansion sells each outlandish moment in this dark affair.  There were some times where I felt like the tertiary or even secondary characters felt a tad bit underdeveloped but by the end of this issue the audience will be impressed enough, like I was, to let minor misgivings like that go by the wayside in favor of the literary journey on display here.

I can’t say enough about the brilliant pencil work done by Rahsan Ekedal.  From the complexities of the technology to the human characters that populate this tale of government conspiracies and various levels of espionage, I was simply floored.  Each panel has it within itself to deliver a certain level of skill that not only sells the authenticity of these concepts but also surrounds them in an empathetic experience that makes the emotional moments that much more powerful.

Think Tank #7 is a top notch affair, that’s sure to please anyone that want to learn while being entertained.  Highly recommended.
