Star Wars: Legacy Volume 2 #3 Review

Is the future of this universe still worthwhile or is it just getting far too repetitive? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

Ania Solo and her friends have been chased, blockaded, and shot at, and now they’re stuck on a world of molten sulfur all because an Imperial Knight wants them dead. Just when things seem bleakest, another Imperial Knight shows up! Is he here to help them, or help destroy them?

The galactic tapestry of the Star Wars saga seems to be an endlessly revolving cycle that regurgitates previously used ideas and held notions, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not entertaining.  And that right there is something the creative team has done successfully, as they re-imagine core and accepted concepts from cannon to bring about an entirely engaging romp.

Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman work together to give birth to a tale featuring the latest heir to a legacy beyond the weight of any adventurer.  The script brings about a plethora of emotions that are sure to elevate previously held expectations for this series, as  just enough is done in order to echo the past while forging the future. There are some moments where the authors rely far too much on happenstance thereby cheapening some of the encounters, but beyond that though the entirety of the package will surely leave their audience entertained.

Once again Gabriel Hardman double dips on this title, as he raises his pencil to offer up some stunning illustrations.  From the first page to the final panel the talent finds a way to not just deliver a competent level of detail but he also brings forth a unique visual style that’s sure to make all of us wish that he had a few more pages to work with.  There were a few instances where the panels seemed rather rushed but these selections were few and far between.

Star Wars: Legacy Volume 2 #3 is another excellent extension of this universe, as it does just enough right for both fanboys and fangirls to be worthy of the heritage it now represents.  Recommended.
