The Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #4 Review

Does this unit offer potential success? Or does it suffer system failure? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

When a mercenary army with sinister motives joins the hunt for Dr. Elise Fong, ex-CIA operative Farrow Greene is no longer sure if she’s Fong’s kidnapper or rescuer! Meanwhile, a tireless, merciless Terminator remains intent on murdering Fong before anyone else can learn her secrets!

The Terminator-Enemy of My Enemy 4_Preview PageIt’s been an awesome experience digging into this exciting era, as we see a creative team build a rather unique machine. They lock on target with a narrative that leaves little room for error, as this model musters up more than enough gumption to garner attention. Trust me my fellow fanboys and fangirls this is one title you’ll be happy to own.

Dan Jolley pens the script and once again the focus is on Farrow Greene and her current assignment. But what really makes this outing wholly worthwhile is how the author approaches the Terminator, its responses and our heroine’s burgeoning understanding of the enemy of her enemy. There are some minor sequences where I wish the scribe could have offered a bit more exposition, but don’t worry there’s still enough meat in this text to sate the appetite of just about any cybernetic organism.  In short: it’s a book that’s full of action, suspense and an interesting twist.

The illustrations handed in by Jamal Igle are simple in execution but birth enough detail to yield memorable moments. From the first page to the final panel the pencil strokes build up a visual world where when the talent needs to deliver some hard hitting instances there’s plenty of room for carnage. Add in the colors by Wes Dzioba and my only complaint is that I wish the palette could have afforded a slightly darker tone for a few select scenarios.

The Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #4 is a rock solid tale that never forgets its heritage. I honestly feel like the ending of this entire odyssey might turn out to be predictable but there’s no doubt that I’m enjoying the ride. Recommended.
