The Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #3 Review

Is this honestly another romp that deserves a purchase from the loyal fanboys and fangirls associated with this iconic franchise? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

With her mission to kidnap biotechnician Elise Fong compromised by the appearance of a massive, seemingly invulnerable killer, ex-CIA operative Farrow Greene calls on all her training for an epic, one-woman war against the stranger! Meanwhile, an army of mercenaries will stop at nothing to capture the Terminator technology!

Terminator-Enemy of My Enemy 3_Preview PageAfter closing the third issue I can honestly say that despite some stumbles along this way, this is one volume that manages to stick to its primary objectives. The creative team pens a simple straight forward yarn as a slight twist at the end further cements the honestly of this title’s oddly specific arc. In short: this is a strong comic book that really deserves your attention.

Dan Jolley pens the script and I have to compliment to the author, because from the first page to the cliffhanger finish he proves his own mastery over timing. Easily building up the details surrounding the narrative, we’re left with a slightly rushed confrontation with a logical finish that’ll make next month interesting. I do disagree with some of the logic therein, but for the most part it makes some sort of sense and through the use of striking dialogue the whole of the tale works well enough.

The visual component handled by Jamal Igle is simple and competent. The panels are not drenched in detail as the talent embraces a simple vision that represents the era and the movie solidly enough to not disappoint. Thanks to the dynamic works of Ray Snyder we receive colors that complement the pencil strokes. To sum up: there are some hiccups along the way but even so this turns out to be a good looking comic nonetheless.

The Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #3 is not something that revolutionizes the genre it represents, but it does use the space its given well. As another time traveling romp barrels forward this franchise extender gets a recommendation from me.
