Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #3 Review

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man has been a sensational new direction for the character. Following the super quick pace of last issue it was nice to see a more development driven issue with Mile’s revelation to Katie and Norman Osborn’s scheming proving very dramatic. The minor action and added mystery also made things more alluring as the series proves to be the best in Ultimate Marvel NOW!

Brian Michael Bendis really produces his best when it comes to this series as though his X-Men series’ and past runs on the likes of Avengers and Daredevil have been amazing the charming nature of this series has always placed it above the rest. The tempo and atmosphere he sets in this issue bring this charm once more with the suspenseful interaction between Miles and Katie and the intense sequence featuring Osborn proving highly entertaining. I did however feel that the covert team hunting Osborn found him a little too quickly as though this brings the eventual showdown between Osborn and Miles forward it felt a little coincidental.

David Marquez always produces stunning artwork and especially when it comes to this series. The sheer detail and lively layouts add a lot of energy to the issue with the latter also adding a lot of intensity and drama. Marquez also does a terrific job of adding emotion to the issue with the facial expressions being very intense and realistic. We also got a brief action sequence near the end of the issue with it’s explosive nature giving the perfect cliffhanger for the series.

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man continues to amaze with Revival certainly living up to the tagline off most shocking Spider-Man story of the year. Highly recommended.
