Lola XoXo 3_CEI have to say I didn’t see this ending coming, as this entire franchise takes a rather interesting turn. My compliments to the talent behind it because after just three outings she’s impressed me with a product that, despite some minor flaws, manages to entertain and engage from start to finish. In short: there’s no doubt that this is a book to watch.

Siya Oum delivers the written word as our heroine continues to work off her family’s debt with the Wasteland Trading Company. The rouge group of Circus Carnies gets some attention but the main focus is squarely on our primary lead, as the author continues to make Lola likable. It seems to me that the audience is given more than enough material to root for our somewhat naive but understandably hopeful protagonist. Though there are inescapable moments where the dialogue just comes off far too stiff, I found myself remaining in a wishful state for whatever end the scribe has in mind.

The illustrations go beyond the text as fanboys and fangirls are treated with a lavish display. Siya Oum impresses with simple yet elegant panels that feel familiar but maintain enough originality to not feel like a retread. Each page embodies the classic tropes of a western combined with the sensibilities of the modern age. To sum up: the pictures contained here should be enough to garner attention.

Lola XoXo #3 is another really good entry that continues to prove its worth. It may carry some familiar details but the overall comic is fresh enough to yield a final product that earns a recommendation.
