Who is this Rocket Man? Read on to find out.

The official description from Image:

People are disappearing from the world. People who may not have belonged in the world at all. Secret protocols are being activated. Diana Dane is on a lost highway. Nothing is what it seems.

SupremeBlueRose04_Page1Supreme: Blue Rose has been a fabulous reinvigoration of the classic series, as though there have been the odd moment where I’ve questioned where the story’s heading, the overall energy and excitement of each issue overshadows this. This remains the same here, with Doc Rocket making his introduction in a rather noticeable way. Despite this it was the interaction between Rocket and the red haired woman, who’s revealed to be Zylan (should have really have noticed that myself), that proved the most interesting feature of this chapter.

Warren Ellis continues to draw my attention into this rebuild world of Supreme, with his new take on the classic, and reasoning behind it being very enthralling. He takes this intriguing factor to a whole new level in this issue, with the thought of both the old and current Supreme universes being both captivating and clever. Despite this I did feel that Ellis tried to add too many elements, with the addition of Professor Night, though once again entertaining, feeling out of place.

Tula Lotay‘s art has easily been the key focal point that keeps drawing me back to this series, as though Ellis’ scripts alone are enough, they somehow pale in comparison to Lotay’s magnificent art. The way that she puts immaculate detail into every panel of every page, along with the fluid layouts make for an enticing set of visuals. It is however the way that she balances this with vivid, wisping colours that really catches the eye, with the final look being stunning.

Supreme: Blue Rose continues to be an enticing story, with the developments being very intriguing to say the least. The creative flair of both Ellis and Lotay also makes this a series worth returning to, as though Ellis’ other series, Trees, isn’t amazing, this most certainly is. Highly recommended.
