One day, a young girl named Penny Dora discovers a mysterious box on her front doorstep. It is a magic box with the power to grant wishes…but what she’s about to unwrap is the darker and creepier meaning behind the old adage, “be careful what you wish for.”

PennyDora01-Page2-75ef2First off, I really liked this comic. It is something that I could show to my friends kids and not worry about the content because it is very fun and safe. Now, I don’t mean safe as a bad thing, it is just something you could share with any kids that may be in your life but, also, get a kick out of it, yourself. The story revolves around a young girl name Penny who receives a magic box on Christmas, which neither her mother or her know where it is from. This opens the mystery and the fun that is Penny Dora. She is really a young lady just enjoying life that has something happen to her that is neither bad or good at this moment. It is a really nice issue and I am excited to read the second.

Michael Stock knows how to speak through the eyes of the character and gives us enough to hold on to and like. Penny is a young girl and we feel the wonder and excitement that she feels through the style of writing that Stock provides. I do wish that we were given a little more for the first issue but I think that it will only get better.

Sina Grace has shown  that she a competent artist. This comic is different than the other two but she incorporates her own voice through the style of art that she provides for this series. It is eye catching and pops right off the page.

Penny Dora is a comic that everyone can enjoy.
