Judge Dredd #25 Review

What happens when the baddest ass judge comes to reclaim the city that he loves? Read on to find out more.

The official description from IDW:

‘Mega-City Manhunt, part 1’- Dredd has defeated the Dark Judges and broken out of Sector One only to find himself a fugitive in Judge Cal’s insane surveillance state, with only Anderson in his head helping him survive Cal’s rabid manhunt!

STK654068With Dredd getting out of Sector 1 and defeating the Dark Judges, you have to think that the world would love him but, in truth, we have a world that has been corrupted by an evil Judge Cal. Now, even though this is called Judge Dredd, there isn’t that much of Dredd for this issue. However, it still is very good. We have a doppelganger of Cal that is dealing with the fact that everyone hates him. Then, we have Cal, who has sent out a hit on Dredd for anyone that sees him. We get some mistaken identities and people are targeting Judges left and right. We, also, have our other Judges who don’t  think that Dredd may be as bad as Cal is making him out to be. Finally, we have Dredd, who shows up in the end and he is not alone. I won’t ruin it but it’s pretty neat what happens.

The writing for this series gets better and better and with this being the 25th issue, it is really neat what kind of arcs have been created by Duane Swierczynski. You will see what I mean when you read it but I think that this ending will be pretty cool.

Nelson Daniel continues to deliver on the artistic side of this comic. It is swift, toned, and fantastic. The colors pop and the characters look pristine, even when they are not suppose to be.

Judge Dredd #25 is a good filler issue leading to a bigger idea.
