Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #8 variantIt’s Halloween season, and though some comic companies have seen this as a great opportunity to launch some of their more horror based tales, there have also been others that have put their regular series’ into the season. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 follows suit, and considering it’s background rightfully so. Giving a very fun, and entertaining plot, this issue sees the gang return to Sunnydale, to stop Andrew from doing something stupid.

Christos Gage has been doing a fabulous job since taking over the main Buffy series, with this Halloween issue being the perfect jumping on point for new fans. As ever the main thing that makes Gage’s scripts shine is the character chemistry, with the dialogue throughout allowing for some entertaining moments. Despite this I wasn’t sure on the change in storytelling in the middle, with it initially feeling jarring. On the flip side, the way this sets up the introduction of a new monster is very clever and unique.

Rebekah Isaacs‘ artwork on this series has been nothing short of phenomenal, with her fun, lively style being more than suited for the world of Buffy. This proves no different here, with the energetic layouts, and clever positioning of characters allowing for both drama and excitement. Isaacs’ also gets into the spirit of Halloween, with the congregation in Sunnydale showing the spirit of the season. Richard Corben also joins Isaacs, giving a very unique look to the new monsters backstory.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 is something that fans of the show must read, with this issue also being perfect for fans that are in the Halloween spirit. The series also continues to build upon the world that Joss Whedon build all those years ago, with Season 10 possible being the best in the comic book continuation so far. Highly recommended.
