The official description from Zenescope:

Red World

When a deadly plague hits Earth, it wipes out 99% of the population. And while the majority of those who remain alive are suffering, the wealthy are using their status to survive… But at what cost?

Grimm Tales of Terror 4_Variant CoverI love October! Many people may think that the holiday season kicks off in late November, but for me, when I start to see pumpkins, witches, ghouls and goblins I know it’s underway. The best part is that it brings out some spooky romps. And this latest entry of Grimm Tales of Terror is no different, as it acts as another fine addition to a growing list of worthwhile literary material.

Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco work with scribe Shane McKenzie to pen another outlandish but compelling yarn surrounding death. The deity for the end of life, Keres, has decided to grace a drug dealer with her presence. What unfolds is a frightening and topical arc that sees the entire world fall prey to an incurable disease. The text, for the most part, follows an easy to understand structure that reminds me of I Am Legend except done much better. We have a steady narrative in a rather tight time-frame that fits this time of year.

The illustrations found within the confines of these pages are soft, detailed and well structured. Antonio Bifulco delivers an engaging array of images that are bound to get people invested with this apocalyptic iteration of the world we know. Add in the colors by Fran Gamboa and I’m left with little to no complaints as this comic book carried my attention with pictures that matched the quality and tempo of the already sturdy written word.

Grimm Tales of Terror #4 is another fine release in a “What If?” franchise. It’s not something I normally get into but the wonderfully creative minds behind it continue to sell their yarn with devilish antics and that justifiable wit fans are familiar with. Recommended.
