The official description from Marvel:

  • On a snowy night in Prague, Natasha must fight her way out of disaster alongside the WINTER SOLDIER!
  • Meanwhile, Isaiah has business of his own in London, but a simple plan gets complicated.
  • Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto continue their uninterrupted run on one of the most acclaimed books of the year.

BWIDOW2014008-int2-5-277b8Black Widow has been an astonishing series so far and along with the likes of the The Punisher has proven that you don’t need to be A-List to be great. With the solicitation promising an appearance from Widow’s former lover Winter Soldier I was more than intrigued as with the history between these two it was bound to create something amazing. I wasn’t disappointed as though the reunion may have been a little brief the action was immense with the chemistry being as brilliant as ever.

Nathan Edmonson has been doing a terrific job on Black Widow with it being one of my favourite Marvel series. The way that he infuses espionage and action is simply amazing with the dynamic tone and mysterious background also being intriguing. With this issue however it was the dialogue exchange between Natasha and Bucky that enthralled me the most with their mutual respect and chemistry shining through. There is however one recurring problem I have with this series and that’s the sudden conclusion to each tale and in all honesty I feel this is what’s stopping it from hitting perfection.

Phil Noto‘s artwork never fails to impress with the beautifully painted art being a joy to mull over. The unique layouts that he produces as ever proved to be captivating giving a dynamic flow to the story. The explosive action along with the energetic vibe that cam along with it also impressed as with Black Widow and the Winter Soldier working together you need and exhilarating atmosphere. Despite all this it was Noto’s colours that impressed me most with the water colour wash adding a soft yet sharp finish to his immense artwork.

Black Widow teams up with the Winter Soldier in what was an exciting and enthralling tale. Highly recommended.
