This is it. But should you care? Read on to find out.
The official description from Valiant:
That was just a battle… Now get ready for the war!
X-O Manowar has played the ultimate gambit, and finally leveled the playing field against the villainous Armor Hunters. But the galaxy’s deadliest killers haven’t come this far just to surrender! Their final charge is now upon us…and it will take the combined powers of X-O Manowar, Unity, Bloodshot and the rest of the Earth’s most formidable heroes to save our world from a full-scale cosmic reckoning. The summer’s biggest crossover event is going out with a BIG bang – and, when the smoke clears, everything you thought you knew about the Valiant U will be forever changed!
There’s no doubt in my mind that fans of this tightly woven universe have been awed by this mammoth arc. And as all the pieces converge in one final glorious bout, we see a creative team that understands the players and the weight of their current struggle. In short: this is how you bring a war like this to a proper conclusion!
Robert Venditti pens the script and the author does a tremendous job tying the various elements together. Unity comes face to face with what could be a drastic turning point for their squad, as Aric and his allies face down the might of the Armor Hunters. It’s a hard hitting road with a frantic pace, but it’s through that energy we find a controlled spark that pushes the text toward some interesting revelations. When the dust settles and the final toll is counted, it becomes clear: this is exactly how events need to end.
The illustration handed in by Doug Braithwaite from the first page to the final panel were just downright striking. Consistent pencil strokes offered an engaging level of detail that deserves recognition and praise. There were a few moments where the bodily forms seemed a bit misshapen, but at this point that type of complaint is honestly overruled by a wide birth of quality. Add in the colors by Laura Martin and there’s no doubt that this book thrives with a more than worthwhile display.
Armor Hunters #4 simply rocked! Without spoiling what happened, I’ll say that I walked away from this pleased and even enthused. I don’t know what comes next but here’s a comic that just comes highly recommended.
