The official description from Dynamite:

In “Pyramid Schemes,” Peter Cannon is in Egypt, where he learns some disturbing facts about the missing Princess Ahmoset. Meanwhile, as Thunderbolt, his plans to summon the dragon once more bring him into contact with the explosive Sons of Adam!

Superheroes by their nature are complexities that are often beyond own comprehension, and yet on some level the audience finds a way to connect to their ongoing struggles.  We relate to them on a very empathetic basis but when done right there are so many layers to their complicated existence that their actions can offer up an allegory of our very souls. This latest release doesn’t quite do that but it yields a solidly captivating experience.

As literary jaunts go this re-imagined franchise continues to soar in its own regards.  But it does stumble a bit here and there, as the script by Steve Darnall and Alex Ross successfully brings about a narrative that lacks some meat in certain areas.  From start to finish though the two authors seamlessly connect the dots of this tale while birthing some key moments that are sure to get the audience involved.  Ultimately what they’ve accomplished is the creation of something that’s entertaining but as a title it’s inevitably brought down by poor pacing, bloated text and unnecessary moments.

The art by Jonathan Lau continues to be an area where this series simply shines. His pencil strokes offer thick and thin lines that work in unison to bring about this world of imaginary dragons, government conspiracies and international intrigue.  The talent right off the bat effortlessly realizes every possible visualization the script requires while giving his renditions enough detail to stand up in their own right during this literal fray.

Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #7  is another engaging romp that does exactly what it needs to, as the creative team slowly bur surely builds this story up as the series marches toward it’s final issues.  Recommended.
