Morning Glories #32 Review

The mind-boggling affair centered around the Morning Glories Academy and her students continues here, but is it still worthwhile?  Read on to find out.

“Stories we tell.”

Another issue arrives and I find myself with my jaw literally dropped by yet another sterling entry.  The creative team continues to hit it out of the park as the hard-hitting second season moves forward.  I know, it may, on the onset, feel rather frustrating to go through yet another month where you close the book and have more questions than answers but trust me that doesn’t matter.  The journey is truly what counts, and if there are any fanboys or fangirls out there that are yearning for something beyond the normally accepted episodic format than this is one franchise primed for your pleasure.

The words handed in by Nick Spencer do a lot to sell the humanity of this otherworldly adventure.  There’s so much going on that we, as an audience along with the players, just don’t understand.  From the ability of time travel to the literary references there’s a lot of meat to digest within this script.  But, like any good mystery, the twists keep on coming in ways that are sure to shock.  I want to point out a conversation that occurs between two primary characters, it’s a simple moment that’s as heartbreaking as it needs to be and trust me by the time you reach the end you’ll be eagerly anticipating the next chapter.

Joe Eisma continues to dazzle with yet another rewarding display.  The key thing to remember about his particular style is how much he employs symbolic stances to sell the underlying emotions, but the talent has reached new levels with his ability to expand facial expression.  The end result is a visually stimulating affair that provides a natural progression for the narrative path.  By the summation I was impressed, and as this series moves forward it becomes apparent how perfectly suited this illustrator actually is.

Morning Glories #32 is yet another great addition, as the mythology behind this comic grows.  Highly recommended.
