Mind the Gap #2 Review

Mind the Gap #1 is the most interesting comic I’ve read this year. It grabbed me with its intriguing mystery and original concept. You don’t find too many comics like it these days. The second issue continues the story well enough, but it’s lacking everything that made the first issue so darn good.

The officicial description from Image:

Last issue’s THREE cliffhangers are answered here, leading to even more questions surrounding the attack on Elle Peterssen. A new person is introduced, but are they friend or foe? And Elle quickly finds that the situation she is in has rapidly gone from a 10 to 10,000!

The anxiously awaited ongoing mystery deepens as the web of suspects and lies spreads.

Elle and Bobby are by far the best characters in this series. Sadly for this issue they’re confined to the latter part. Instead we’re given some so-so dialogue with Dr. Geller and her wife. Issue #2 just doesn’t have that surprise and intrigue #1 had. Elle seems a little too knowing about the situation. The characters whom we care about aren’t given sufficient page time. And in terms of the story, not much is progressed.

The art is standard. It’s basically what the usual comic book art should look like. Not sketchy or bad like Lil’ Depressed Boy and not as dynamic as Justice League. The main problem with this issue is that nothing really exciting happens. The best parts is with Elle and Bobby and the cliffhanger ending, its lacking the exciting punch of the previous issue.

Overall, if you’ve read Mind the Gap #1, you’ll definitely want to pick up the latest issue. Sadly, it’s lacking the intrigue and mystery of the previous one. I know I’m giving off a negative vibe here, it’s still a good comic, it just doesn’t live up to its amazing first issue. Still worth the $2.99.
