JLA/Transformers, the Crossover That Could Have Been

Who doesn’t love a good crossover? Even after reading JLA/Avengers for the eleventh time, I still get that inner-fanboy feeling when the two teams meet on the one large splash page. Crossovers could be fun, deep, or what some would say a “cash-in using two popular properties”. Alas, not all of them are destined to be made, case in point with JLA/Transformers. Prior to The New 52, Chris Ryall from IDW and Phil Jimenez from DC had pitched the concept, but it ultimately never came to be. A true shame, considering the artwork you are about to see from Jimenez’s Facebook page is fantastic.

Some of you may not know this, but ironically the Avengers had crossovered with the Transformers in New Avengers/Transformers back in 07, which was a fun little story. Who knows if this would have turned out good, but one cannot deny how awesome it is to see Optimus with a Green Lantern ring, or the spectacle of Superman trading punches with Megatron.
