It Girl & The Atomics #7 Review

It Girl is back with a new mission, but will out pluck young heroine be taken out before she is able to complete it?

Here is the summary from Image:

“THE WORLD IS FLAT” Part 1 of 2
REVIVAL’s MIKE NORTON returns for an It Girl solo adventure. Our heroine has gone to the Alps to rescue a kidnapped scientist and keep his game-changing secret invention out of the wrong hands. Prepare for super-powered spies, mechanical men, and international intrigue in the start of our second story arc.

It Girl finds herself heading for the hills as she goes on a mission to find and rescue a man known as Professor Osamu from the evil clutches of…an old woman and her two sons. Ok, so maybe not the most FRIGHTENING of circumstances for a hero’s 1st solo mission, but hey, old ladies can be very menacing (anyone remember Granny Goodness?)

The series still retains it’s witty, “Saturday morning cartoon”-esque charm, with plenty of comedic moments and a few good action bits thrown in. One of the things I liked in this issue was that It Girl showcased her powers more which I found the previous issues lacked. The reason why Professor Osamu is kidnapped is stated…kind of, but it has to do with a device that is the “whole world”. The hitman that the Von Harbou’s hired is your typical one-note villain (his name hasn’t even been said) but is fun.

Mike Norton’s art is still as whimsical as usual but also adds that touch of energy when needed. Making the actions scenes look more dynamic and fast-paced; which adds to the overall all flow of the book. The colors are bright and vibrant, as to be expected from a book like this. A good mix of story and art are this books strengths.

A solid opener to a what is sure to be a fun two-parter, It Girl & The Atomics is definitely a fun read from young kids to adults. How will It Girl’s first solo mission go? Have to wait till next issue to find out.
