HACK/SLASH: SON OF SAMHAIN #1 Review

OMG Cassie Hack is back with a vengeance, but with a new writing team, is it the same Cassie that we know? Read on to find out more.

Your favorite slasher hunter is BACK! When a mysterious cult of monsters arises, Cassie is forced to return to the life she thought she’d left behind. Coupled with a new partner and faced with enemies unlike any she has battled before, Cassie must confront the darkness in the world-and in her own life-in new ways. The agents of evil never rest; unfortunately for them, neither does Cassie Hack.

STK645033Now, I am prolly the biggest Hack/Slash fan in the world. It is such a great story and awesome concept that I have never gotten the thrill that I have while reading about Cassie Hack, from any other comic. When I heard that Cassie was coming, I was thrilled but it is under a different writer which I was a little hesitant but I am happy to say that my worries have been removed with this first issue. The story takes place some time after, where Cassie has been adjusting to her new life. She seems to be happy but has a little PTSD, which is understandable. Then a new cult arises and then it goes up hill from then. The Hack is Back and she is coming to take out some new villains, who I feel might be more terrible than ever before. There are new characters and reveals that are just amazing. It is spot on perfect. Steve Seely does an amazing job of keeping the tone of Tim’s character’s and writing, while adding a new level and uniqueness. It is fantastic.

The art is spot on, as well, with the tone and what is happening. The color schemes really add a dynamic because it is such a dark comic and this highlights what needs to be highlighted so well, that it feels like and other ass kicking adventure.

HACK/SLASH: SON OF SAMHAIN #1 is a great new start to a fan favorite series.
