Grimm Fairy Tales Wonderland Banner

Do the conspiracies continue to deepen or does the Liddle family finally catch a break?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Zenescope:

Dark Cheshire and the New Mad Hatter Return! Calie and Violet’s search for answers to defeat the realm of madness leads them back to the site of the original “EXPERIMENT” that opened the first portal to Wonderland. But the answers they find may prove to be too much as a startling decision is made that will change Wonderland forever. Meanwhile, the Dark Cheshire and the new Mad Hatters’ search for Calie and Violet lead them to the foster home of the suicide king, who is attempting to learn to lead a normal life. Unfortunately, he will learn that there is no Escape From Wonderland.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland 17_CThe dark road twists and turns ever onward but this issue might actually be the key turning point in this odyssey.  The creative team dabbles in a lot but, oppose to the apparent, its what they hint at that really gets the ball rolling.

Raven Gregory continues to lend his pencil to these endlessly disturbing but strangely engaging festivities.  What we have in our hands is the first step toward our mother and daughter duo’s path toward not redemption but resistance.  They want to fight Wonderland and thanks to the revelations found here they might just have a chance.  But beyond that there were some stumbles along the way such as the rushed resolution for our good doctor.  Overall though there’s enough to love as this literary master leans toward tomorrow.

The art by JG Miranda and Lynx Studios offers two distinct but nonetheless expertly rendered versions of this reality.  That right there is the biggest complaint I can levy, because the transitions between the two were jarring to say the least.  On more than one occasion I found myself getting into a specific look only for the next page to shake it up.  Despite that fact the visuals, on some level, still worked.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland  #17 continues to prove the vitality of this corner of the franchise.  Recommended.
