Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland #15 Review

Do our primary characters need to make a choice right now, or is it already made for them?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Zenescope:

Violet and Calie have finally come home where it all began to find the only family that Violet has left. But the ghosts of the past linger in this place…Violet will finally come to understand the true nature of madness in a lesson from Wonderland that she will never forget.

It’s time for an interlude and a precursor all wrapped up in a compelling issue that begins yet another story arc.  If you’ve been following this corner of Grimm Fairy Tales universe than you’re more than familiar with quite a few of the elements, but trust me, this creative team still has the ability to throw a couple well deserved curve balls into this potent mix.

The script penned by Raven Gregory is a personal journey that evokes the right amount of personal loss and motherly affection.  That may sound like an odd combination, but trust me this scribe finds a way to blend the varying elements that have crafted this twisted and chaotic road into a very believable entry. There comes a moment when our two primary players need to come face to face with the loses their life has cost them, and in turn they need to understand where they should go in the future.

JG Miranda handles the art and that’s putting it lightly.  The overall design sense is top notch as a soft but delicate balance is struck between the feminine and the horrific.  From the first page to the final panel the talent finds a way to meld with the text in a way that breathes life into a serious battle for the fate of this torn down family.  The end result is a visual dance that’s just as tasty as it is memorable.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland #15 is truly an impressive entry.  My only complaint with the package is that it’s a bit slow at, but I realize it’s that way for specific reasons.  Recommended.
