Grimm Fairy Tales presents Madness of Wonderland #4 Review

A destiny is embraced, but is this finale really worth your time?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Zeescope:

The mind-bending sequel to Call of Wonderland is here! People are dying all around Detective Legrasse and now her girlfriend has been kidnapped. Can she figure out what her partner’s involvement in the recent murders is and how it ties into Johnny Liddle or will she learn the terrible truth much too late? And what are the horrific creatures Lovecraft found underground and how can he stop them before they get out into the city? Don’t miss the stunning conclusion to the hit comic book that ties directly into Zenescope’s ongoing Wonderland series! Featuring the DEBUT of the all new, completely insane, wickedly whack heir to a certain infamous top hat…THE NEW MAD HATTER!

If you’ve been following this franchise than the purchase of this book is an already decided decision. But if you haven’t you should because the creative team makes sure that there’s still plenty of stuff here to sink your teeth into.

Dan Wickline pens the script and you could not have asked for a better writer to deliver this tale of madness.  His grasp on each characters and their distinct motivations is self-evident, even as he puts them in mortal danger.  Perhaps the best aspect of these proceedings is his final stab at necessary evolution as one in particular embraces who she’s destined or doomed to become. To put it simply: as a whole this jaunt into insanity works quite well.

The art done by Federico de Luca and Oscar Celestini is more than up to the task.  Each illustrator makes full use of each panel they’re given as they cut through the meat of the versatile romp.  But there were some sequences where the level of detail varied too much between the talents creating a bit of an eye sore, but for the most part these did little to detract from the experience of it all.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Madness of Wonderland #4 is a solid conclusion that should get fans excited.  Recommended.
