FIRST LOOK: The cover for Uncanny Avengers #1

It didn’t take very long for the cover of Uncanny Avengers #1 to hit the internet.

Uncanny Avengers #1

Description: The Avengers and X-Men must join forces to overcome the greatest challenge either team has ever faced, one so devastating that neither can afford to do it alone! Can Captain America’s newly assembled team find a way to peacefully co-exist while also dealing with the game-changing repercussions of Avengers VS X-Men?

Story By: Rick Remender

Art By: John Cassaday

Cover By: John Cassaday

Release Date: October 2012

It looks like the team roster will consist of Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, Havok, Scarlet Witch and Rogue.  And judging by their outfits I think it might be a safe assumption to make that some of the costume redesigns previewed in our previous Marvel NOW! column  (you read the article here), will indeed be featured in the Ultimate Universe not the traditional Marvel Universe.

Uncanny Avengers writer Rick Remender told Entertainment Weekly earlier this week:

I’m not just smashing the heroes together, I’m smashing the villains together.  It becomes something unlike anything we’ve ever seen, with stakes that are so huge, it takes a team comprised of the best Avengers and the best X-Men to go take care of it.

I’m sorry, but this looks terrible.

This looks like they’ve decided to return to a pre “Avengers: Disassembled” timeline.

What the hell is the point?

    And sleeveless Thor?

    Boooooo!
