UPDATE: Josh Hartnett NOT in Talks for Daredevil

UPDATE: David Slade has taken to responding to yesterday’s rumor that he wants Josh Hartnett for the role of Daredevil. Below are a few tweets he sent out, including one regarding the possible use of 3D in the film:

Yep, nope, Josh Hartnet is not being discussed or anyone else for DD that was just some wishful thinking, we are not at casting stage.

I had the pleasure of working with Josh on 30 Days, an excellent and under rated actor and a wonderful human being.

More DD debunking I am firmly against shooting in stereo so its unlikely to happen that way, & Fox is rightly against 2D to 3D conversions.

UTF has a potentially-awesome bit of news, snatched from director David Slade’s Twitter, regarding the long-awaited Daredevil reboot:

So, with the biggest grain of salt one can take, we can surmise that Slade either is ready to get back to pre-production on the movie, or Hartnett is indeed on the short list for the title role, or both. Personally, I would like to see Hartnett as The Man Without Fear. He’s a strong actor who, like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth before him, just needs the right opportunity to shine in a major role. Aside from hair color, which some of you will no doubt cry about, if this casting did take place, Hartnett would probably serve up a terrific take on Matt Murdock, or at least one much less Affleck-y than the first one.

The most recent script apparently adapts Frank Miller’s classic tale, Born Again, in which the Kingpin systematically ruins Matt Murdock’s life while his alter-ego Daredevil must battle the villain Nuke.

I would say that this has a very real chance of happening, consdiering Slade and Hartnett’s established working relationship in the highly-underrated 30 Days of Night.

What say you? Are you a Hartnett-hater or are you on board for this potential casting choice?
