Vin Diesel May Be Pulling Double Marvel Duty As Black Bolt In INHUMANS

It would be an understatement to say that Guardians of the Galaxy has been a huge success. Marvel’s ragtag group of misfits have been scoring points across the board commercially and critically, and part of that is due to the Vin Diesel’s amazing performance as Groot. As many have learned, Diesel spent days doing thousands of takes of the character’s primary line of dialogue “I Am Groot” in different tones, and it payed off big time with Groot craze bigger than it’s ever been before…which isn’t saying much, but it’s still good news. However, despite likely returning for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Diesel may be involved with Marvel on a different capacity.

Over the weekend, Diesel posted this photo of Groot on Facebook. Look closely at that second line.

Inhuman, you say? Diesel fans not familiar with Marvel Comics might not understand why he used that term, but the Marvel geeks know he’s referring to the  Terrigen Mist-powered individuals who have existed in the comics for decades. Inhumans has been a long-rumored Marvel Studios project, and with many of the Phase 3 projects still a mystery, it’s possible that they might be hitting theaters in the coming years. Plus, we already have an indirect connection to them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Kree were introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy, and in the comics, the alien race did genetic testing on early humans, which eventually resulted in the Inhumans. Forget Hulk teaming up with the Guardians (although that would still be cool). There’s your connection between Earth and the rest of the MCU galaxy.

INHUMANS

Is Diesel hinting that he’s somehow involved with the project? Is he not-so-subtley telling Marvel he wants in on the Inhumans action? Is he just screwing with the fans? Whatever the answer, many will agree there’s only one clear choice for Diesel’s potential role: Black Bolt, the mute leader of the Inhumans. Diesel has the star power to lead an Inhumans film, and since Black Bolt doesn’t speak, there won’t be any pesky questions for why the Inhuman leader sounds like that talking tree.

Black_bolt-2

If Diesel does end up playing Black Bolt, you can appreciate the irony of this. When he uses his voice in a Marvel film, you don’t see his face, but when he does appear, he doesn’t say a word…well, he might say one word, but everything in his path would be destroyed in the process.
