TWILIGHT Composer Headed To THOR : THE DARK WORLD

You read the title right, Twilight composer Carter Burwell is headed to THOR : THE DARK WORLD to create the sweet, sultry sounds of Thundery combat and blue bolts of lightning… or something like that. While I’m usually quick to defend the Twilight franchise (Native American werewolves, people! What more could you want?) the scores didn’t leave a lasting impression in my mind, which doesn’t exactly bode well for the dark fantasy & viking tropes director Alan Taylor is hoping to hit in the Thor sequel.

Here’s the main theme from Twilight, just to give you a bit of background…

Wow… that actually wasn’t too bad. It had a nice Last Samurai vibe going for it, with a nice, ice cold scoop of Forrest Gump‘s theme for extra measure. You know what… I rescind my previous words of concern. I, for one, welcome our new Composer Overlord to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

As it turns out, Carter also composed the score for Fargo… which is a beautiful, fiddle laden overture (at least I think that’s a fiddle).

Now, the only question that remains… how does he stack up to Thor’s original songsmith Patrick Doyle?
