Did Ridley Scott Just Confirm PROMETHEUS 2 For 2015?

PARADISE There was some concern when screenwriters Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof exited Prometheus 2. It sounded like the sequel was going to be put on hold by the studio. Until Transcendence writer Jack Paglen was hired to pen the sequel. Ridley confirmed back in October to Empire, that the sequel was written. At the time Scott hinted Prometheus 2 could be ready for 2015. The director is currently shooting his biblical Moses epic Exodus which stars Christian Bale. A sequel to Blade Runner is also in the works and seemed like a rival project. A new tidbit could give us a clue when the sequel might be released.

“Prometheus 2 is written,” says Scott, but doesn’t indicate when it might start shooting. “I have already got the next two films ready to go. That will be 2014, 2015…I thought I’d left science-fiction for too long, that I had better climb back in. Prometheus was a great experience for me. Chasing number two, we can start evolving the grand idea…”

Screen shot 2013-12-01 at 4.30.19 PMQuietly, Ridley tweeted a possible confirmation that the film is aiming for a 2015 release date. This comes from his official Twitter account (back in September) and linked to a Prometheus fansite. The title hasn’t been officially revealed. It’s working title at one point was Paradise. Likely a cue to the Engineers’ homeworld? Actors Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are still expected to reprise their roles. We last saw Elizabeth Shaw, on her new mission for answers from the Engineers. Having David pilot the alien craft to their homeworld. It’s unknown if the alien planet would be as hostel to humans as LV-223. A ton of theories and speculation has risen from the Prometheus plot holes. An interesting theory suggests a civil war between the factions of the Engineers. Over the subjugation/destruction of lesser speices (humans)? Screen shot 2013-12-01 at 4.51.14 PM There’s already a casting rumor circling the sequel. The same site that Ridley Scott linked to is reporting that rumor. It involves a meeting between Scott and young English actor Rik Barnett (Rebels Without A Clue). He’s apparently in the mix for an undisclosed role in Prometheus 2. Take with the usual grain of salt.
