Gal Gadot ALMOST Didn’t Nab WONDER WOMAN

Back when Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman, there were a lot of people complaining – not about anything regarding her acting ability, of course, but rather the fact that her “boobs weren’t big enough”. Ah, fanboys. Despite looking pretty damn badass in the Batman v Superman trailer, she still has her detractors, so they could either be incredibly glad about this recent development or incredibly pissed off that it didn’t pan out.

Chatting with Xnet (via Batman-News), Gadot revealed that she was originally approached by Warner Bros. to play a completely different DC character: Faora. If you cast your minds back to Man of Steel then you should remember that she was the secondary Kryptonian antagonist alongside General Zod; to be honest, I completely forgot she was in the movie until I read the news.

When I was a month pregnant with (my daughter) Alma, I got an offer to be the evil Superman character. If I wasn’t pregnant I’d take the job, and there’s no way they would take me now to be Wonder Woman.

Thank God for Alma!

She doesn’t specifically say that Faora was the role she was up for, but it seems fairly obvious; it was an action-oriented, badass role that Gadot will now be fulfilling as Wondie. As BN puts it, this is a case of the stars aligning and giving us something good. Her haters may wish she just sucked it up and played Faora anyway, but I’m pretty sure it’s a good thing she didn’t. I have no doubt that she’ll make a great Wonder Woman, who will inspire a new generation of young girls to want to be superheroes and become the fantasy of many a fanboy’s wet dreams (I can’t believe those two things were in the same sentence – ew). She wouldn’t really be able to do any of that as Faora.

Well, maybe the second one.

You can catch Gal Gadot was Wonder Woman next year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then again the following year in her own solo flick. She’ll be great!
