Fanboy Round-Up: FLASH! GAME OF THRONES! WALKING DEAD!

What a week, huh?

Fanboy Round-Up is your weekly, well, round-up of news – so it’s great if you’ve been especially busy and haven’t had the time to read up on every single lil’ droplet of awesomeness that we cover here. While it was devoid of huge ‘OMIGOSHJSVFBDF’ stuff that has happened in the past few weeks, there’s still enough to satisfy your bloodthirsty appetities. Let’s get rolling, shall we?

GAME OF THRONES Character Rumours

Jaime Lannister Banner

We’ve got two big ones for you today, folks.

The latest batch of spoilers are all about two characters, one of whom hasn’t appeared on the show for a little while. Those characters would be Jaime Lannister himself – and Sandor Clegane, the Hound.

Apparently Arya’s old dog will be making a comeback in Season 6, although the how of that is still a mystery. The last we saw of Jaime was clutching his daughter’s dead body on a ship bound for King’s Landing from Dorne, however if a tweet and some good-ol’ speculation are to be believed then everybody’s second-favourite Lannister will in fact be headed to the Riverlands next year. ANOTHER Speedster on THE FLASH

The Flash Season 2 is seeing a lot of additions to its super-family; Wally West, Jay Garrick and Barry Allen himself, but now we can add a little diversity to the list – Jesse Chambers, aka Jesse Quick. She’ll be played by actress Violett Beane and has been described as “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Season 2 Big Bad… Zoom.”

If you have absolutely no idea who she is, then make sure to head to the link above for that and a lil’ bit of speculation. Even though there are already plenty of speedsters set for next year, there are still more who have tapped the Speed Force from the comics that could potentially show up. I wonder…

MAN OF STEEL 2 Might be Delayed

When DC announced their super-duper movie slate almost a year ago now, a notable absence was a direct Man of Steel sequel. You could argue that Batman v Superman serves that purpose because it follows up on the stuff set up in the first movie, however it’s not a solo movie and seems a lot more like a Justice League prequel. If you were holding out hope for a sequel coming out soon, then today is your unlucky day.

The latest rumour is that the movie is on “permanent hold,” but nobody’s really sure whether that means it’s cancelled or just delayed indefinitely. Superman is a tough character to get right on screen and I don’t blame Warner Bros. for wanting to focus on all of the other superheroes they have – for once they would rather not just resort back to the Big Blue Boy Scout and Batman.

We’re also getting our fill of the guy over the next few years. He’s in Batman v Superman (duh) as well as the two Justice League movies in 2017 and 2019. Do we really need a sequel? No, but if this director rumour is true then maybe I’ll change my mind. Who could it be? Head up to the link to find out…

Are the Sith in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS?

No.

Is there a Lightsaber in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS?

Yes!

To celebrate Instagram finally allowing both portrait and landscape photos (not to hype up a new trailer like people first thought), Lucasfilm released a new 15-second teaser with a mix of old and new footage. The most interesting clip was the one above; Finn wielding a lightsaber in a snowy forest, presumabling facing off against Kylo Ren. It’s not much but it’s enough to wet our appetites for another trailer!

Head to the link above to check it out – cos’ we’re hit whores.

I’ve Had it With These Mutha-fuckin’ Zombies on ma Mutha-fuckin’ Plane!

A 16-episode regular season, a six-episode spin-off and a talk show evidently isn’t enough for AMC and The Walking Dead. It was revealed last week that the network are producing a one-off web series next year set in the timeframe of Fear The Walking Dead, taking place on an airplane. It could end up being pretty terrifying and something fresh for the brand to go for after so many years of killing zombies in the south. One of the survivors of the encounter will then go on to become a new cast member in the second season of Fear.

Aaaand that’s it for the big hitters this past week. Of course, there was plenty more news than what was covered in this column, so if you want to check out some interesting bits on Doctor Strange, The Hobbit, Assassin’s Creed and more then make sure to take a scroll down UTF’s front page.

What do you think about these Game of Thrones rumours? Are there too many speedsters coming to The Flash? Do you want a Man of Steel 2 NOW? And just how hyped up are you for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Sound off below!
