WWE’s KANE is a Total Comic Fanboy! Who Is His Favorite Character?

see no evil

Kane is many things.  He is a proud pyromaniac who once enjoyed setting Jim Ross on fire.  He is a family man with a tight relationship with his brother, the Undertaker.  So tight that they are sometimes literally locking each other in different submission holds (nothing is tighter than the Hell’s Gate).  He is a former champion who gives great hugs.  And best of all, he is also a total comic nerd!  Actually, he is a wrestlerd.  Get it?  A wrestlerd is a wrestler and a nerd.  I took the two words and smooshed ‘em together!  It was very clever of me!

I had the opportunity to talk with Kane, AKA Glenn Jacobs at NY Comic Con, while he was promoting his upcoming flick See No Evil 2.

When he was asked who his favorite superhero was, he replied “My favorite superhero was Thor.”  He then went into all-out geek spaz mode.  Here is his entire nerd rant explaining that he liked old school Thor:thor vs hulk

Before he became, like, Thor all the time.  When he was still Donald Blake, right.  So back in the day, and this was a long, long, long time ago, but they had this series, Marvel had a series, where all the superheroes were transported to a different world.  And they just basically had sort of death matches in this different world, right.  And one of the deals was.

I then asked him if he was talking about Secret Wars.  He politely corrected me and continued his spiel:

No, it wasn’t Secret Wars.  This was before Secret Wars.  Yeah, because they all got together in Secret Wars, and it was the Outsider who was in Secret Wars.  No, this was before that.  So anyways, Thor is fighting the Hulk, right, and Thor is a better fighter than the Hulk, even though the Hulk is physically more powerful.  But he gets the hammer knocked away, and that was the deal, he had to have the hammer or in 60 seconds he turns back to Donald Blake.  Yeah, so they got this countdown going on, and Thor is trying to think of how am I gonna get out of this cause this guy is gonna kill me if I turn back into Donald Blake.  Y’know, so it was awesome.  ‘Cause he like… he broke the Hulk’s neck.  And then he gets the hammer back, and Hulk turns into Bruce Banner.  So that was my favorite.

Ok, so some of that may be a little incorrect.  He got the Secret Wars villain wrong- it was the Beyonder, not the Outsider.  But I was not about to correct the dude.  Which one of you geeks really wants to try to tell the Big Red Monster he forgot the name of a horrible villain in a series from over 20 years ago?  Not me.

When he was asked what superhero he would like to be on a deserted island with, Kane initially stated Captain America.  Luckily, he rethought his answer and decided on the beautiful Storm.  Good choice Kane, she gives excellent hugs.

Since he was there to promote See No Evil 2, I better give his flick a little promotion.  This time around, the murderfest is being directed by the Soska sisters, Jen and Sylvia.  Jacob Goodnight is returning to murder more sinners in 2014!
