Relive A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE With This Awesome Official Artwork!

There are many great qualities to A Song of Ice and Fire; the incomprehensible world-building, the intelligence of it, the density of the plot, the brilliant characters, the social commentary – all things which we usually associate with the book saga. However, one of my favourite things about it is the fantastic art that it produces, be that official or fan-made. A bunch of artwork from the upcoming 2016 calendar has debuted, offering fans a visual exploration of the novels which are, undoubtedly, better than Game of Thrones‘ offerings.

The art for February is out, but that’s from The Winds of Winter and could be spoilery (emphasis on could), so we’ll just link it here.

I may have to buy this calendar; not because I need it, but simply because of this fantastic artwork from Magali Villenueve – and there’s still more yet to be revealed! A Song of Ice and Fire is one of my most treasured stories and it’s great to see it come to life with such beautiful imagery often not found on the television adaptation.

Many thanks to io9 for the images. The calendar is out July 28.
