POWERS looks CORNY, but I think I DIG IT

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve only ever read a handful of issues from the literary legacy that is Powers, but I get the basics of it. And from that perspective, and as someone who on many Wednesdays bought loads of superhero comics, the arc as shown in this trailer has peaked my interest.

With what we’ve seen the series seems like it wants to dance a line between the serious and cornball elements that fanboys and fangirls are no doubt familiar with. But based on this footage it’s clear that there are stumbles even as the cast and crew nail a few noteworthy moments. In short: the team behind it has a tight narrative rope with just a little give, so travel lightly and please be entertaining.

I don’t know if this is going to be a bad Sony show or not but at this point I’m kind of excited about it.

So what do you think my fellow fanboys and fangirls? Is this really going to be a franchise worth watching? Or are the longtime enthusiasts out there downright disappointed?

Powers is set to launch in December on the PlayStation Network starring Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as Detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim.
