We’ve been hearing from sources that Marvel is very interested in casting actors Paul Rudd (Anchorman 2, This Is 40) and Rashida Jones (Cuban Fury, Our Idiot Brother) in lead roles for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. However, a new name is being mentioned for the female lead. That name according to LatinoReview is Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, Mama). The multiple Oscar nominated actress had been looked at for what we assume is the role of Janet van Dyne (The Wasp). Chastain was expected to join the Ant-Man production once shooting on Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak (co-stars Tom Hiddleston) wrapped in May. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore as Jessica has joined another production which could conflict with the shooting of the Marvel film.

Jessica would have been an excellent addition to the MCU. At one point she was one of my suggested actresses to play Carol Danvers/Ms Marvel back when the character was rumored for Avengers: Age of Ultron. You might remember that Jessica Chastain had been previously in the mix for the role of Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3. She went with the lead in Zero Dark Thirty earning herself another Oscar nomination. The role of Maya would of course go to Rebecca Hall instead.
