ASH VS. EVIL DEAD coming to STARZ

There are some fanboys that are content with following certain genre’s, with the likes of crime fans not necessarily enjoying sci-fi, or sci-fi fans not enjoying westerns. I however have found myself to be a little glutinous over the years, having fallen in love with nearly every kind of fandom. One franchise that stands amongst my most favoured has to be the Evil Dead, with the world that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have built over the years captivating me time and time again.

It has however been quite a while since we got a film to feature Ash in a feature role, as though he made a brief cameo in the Evil Dead reboot, as well as being teased to star in a follow-up film to Army of Darkness, we’ve had to be content with other media appearances from the character.

That however is about to change, as with the announcement that Starz have ordered a 10-part series titled Ash vs. Evil Dead, we may see the boomstick wielding hero sooner than we think. This isn’t however the best part of this news, as Bruce Campbell himself will return to the iconic role, and honestly I couldn’t picture anyone else playing the character. Evil Dead creator and director Sam Raimi will also be working on the series, directing the first episode., and acting as producer throughout. Having worked with Starz in the past on Spartacus, it was natural that Raimi would bring his Evil Dead series to their network, and having also enjoyed their Da Vinci’s Demons series I’m sure the network will do an amazing job.

Well there’s only one world I have that’s befitting this news, and that’s, Groovy! But what do you my fellow fanboys and fangirls think? Are you excited to see Ash and his boomstick return? Or should the Evil Dead remain a cult film franchise?
