Can this series continue to hit the high notes or was it just a one hit wonder? Read on to find out.

The official description from Top Cow:

After a terrifying escape from the Magic world into ours, Asa finds that not even two realities are big enough to hide in. Armed with a terrible secret meant to destroy both his world and this strange place called Earth, Asa Stonethrow must seek help from his realms most feared criminals. His only hope is an enchanted frog and a street-smart, opportunistic petty thief and con artist named April Mae June.

Rise of the Magi #2 variantRise of the Magi delivers yet another flawless issue with the series really starting to get on a roll. The fun and energetic pace of this issue proved very enthralling with Asa’s clumsy entry into our world being very entertaining. The issue also saw the introduction of yet another fabulous character in the form of April with the dialogue exchange between her and Asa being very humorous.

Marc Silvestri has really been killing it on this series producing some of his best writing material ever. The way he introduces each issue of this series is simply wonderful with it being fun, captivating and above all else unique. The way that Silvestri split’s the story into two halves once more proves a terrific decision as bar giving room for an extra artist it also allows the story to change pace in a subtle yet effective way.

Sumeyye Kesgin has really been impressing me with her artwork bringing a fun yet energetic look to this story. The way she manages to give excitement on such a grand scale whilst also giving fun and quirky character expressions really amazed me with scenery and background also being sensational. Rounding off an all female art team is Mirka Andolfo who produces the goods on the second half of the issue with her sketchy yet charming tone complimenting Kesgin’s brilliantly. Stjepan Sejic‘s selfie cover also astounded with the charming concept and powerful overtone working perfectly together.

Rise of the Magi continues to impress with it being a must have for fans of magic, excitement and Marc Silvestri. Highly recommended.
