Dressed to the 10’s in his super secret stealth uniform, Steve Rogers returns in all of his patriotic glory in this latest batch of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER pics. Featuring the heavily mascaraed Winter Soldier (who just so happens to share his name with the film’s title) and Scarlett Johansson’s crimson headed beauty Black Widow (although she looks a bit Gingery this go around), these pics will grace the cover of the newest issue of Empire Magazine.
I should admit, of all Marvel’s Phase 3 movies, I was most excited for Thor: The Dark World, but the teaser footage for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has turned my fanboy-biassed heart. Marvel’s fully invested in a proper political thriller with this latest romp, filled with foreboding shots of Washington D.C., a Cold War era soundtrack, and a few lazy-eyed thugs. No superhero film has yet to combine “spy” with “vigilante”, although Nolan’s Batman certainly tried, but Winter Soldier looks like it will be a pure marriage of the two genres.
So, yeah, I’m kinda really excited. Not to mention, Chris Evans finally delivers an imposing, authoritative, “I Killed NAZIs, you brat!” performance, which was so utterly lacking in his two previous appearances as Captain America in both The First Avenger and The Avengers. He was hopelessly impotent as the badass World War II hero in those flicks, but Winter Soldier looks to redeem all of those missteps with some heavy handed action and shady black ops.
