Tim Miller Updates On DEADPOOL Confirming A Revised Script

Deadpool

Last thing we heard about the Deadpool movie was that test-footage was being shown to Fox and people involved with the project. Apparently, people that saw that footage were blown away but since then the news concerning the project has been scarce. Along with talk everyone was still championing an R-rating for the film including producer Lauren Shuler Donner.

The fine folks over at CleeverMovies were able to get some one on one time with Deadpool director Tim Miller. He confirmed to Erin Darling that everyone is still very much involved which includes lead actor Ryan Reynolds. Adding there is now a revised version of the script. Originally, the script was written by screenwriting duo Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. The pair being best known for  Zombieland, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and the Venom spin-off. Their script was leaked online and put the breaks on the production. Miller now confirming that the writers have turned a new script. It’s possible things like the ending and other major things from the leaked script could have been scrapped for this new one.

“We will never give up! Deadpool is still alive and we’re just waiting for the studio to embrace what a fucking awesome film this would be. Ryan is ready, I am ready. And the fans are more than ready. We just need that elusive green light.”

I had a similar conversation on Twitter with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld a few weeks back. The comic book writer and artist loves to give updates and talk shop with his Twitter followers. He confirmed that Tim Miller and everyone involved were still very much attached. At the time Miller had signed on to numerous other big studio projects. I asked if 20th Century Fox was putting Deadpool on hold to put all their energy into the Fantastic Four reboot. Rob held back more information than he was willing to give but gave me the impression the studio is still hyped about it. Our brief exchange caught the attention of X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner. Who, for the most part keeps a low key presence on Twitter. Rob has previously teased that Deadpool could also be involved with Jeff Wadlow’s X-Force film.
