Thor: The Dark World may have opened in Great Britain last week, but when it opens next week in the United States, Americans audiences will be able to get a little something extra.

Fandango has confirmed that when American moviegoers buy a 3D ticket to Thor: The Dark World, they will be treated to a five-minute sneak peek of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This option will not be available at 2D showings, so for all you 3D haters and people with eye troubles, you’ll unfortunately have to sit this one out.

“After Marvel’s The Avengers, the Marvel films are more interwoven than ever, and this pairing is the perfect complement to both of the new movies,” said Dave Hollis, executive vice president, theatrical distribution, at Walt Disney Studios. Thor: The Dark World is going to be an exceptional theatergoing experience, and this sneak peek will really rev fans up for the return of not only the Mighty Avenger but the First Avenger as well.”

The trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has barely been out a week, and now we’re getting an extended look at the movie! My guess is that with the six month waiting period between Thor and Captain America, Disney wants to give the audience something to mull over during that period. I wish it was available for 2D showings as well, but from a marketing standpoint, it’s a great move. People will definitely hand over the extra three-five dollars to see that extra footage.
