The Amazing Spider-Man Is Part One Of A Trilogy

Well, here’s a massive surprise for you. The Amazing Spider-Man has debuted to impressive numbers at the box office, smashing the Tuesday box office opening record (last held by Trasnformers, so at least we know the record’s in good hands now) and hauling in a healthy Fourth of July gross. With a sequel already heading our way in May 2014, it was only a matter of time before Sony pressed the franchise button.

Sony Pictures have confirmed on Facebook that TASM will be the first of a trilogy that explores ‘the untold story’ of Peter’s parents’ disappearance, and how it’s shaped Peter. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will be returning for the sequels, but it’s uncertain whether director of the first movie Marc Webb will return to direct the sequels. Let’s hope so…

So there you have it – a new Spider-Man trilogy has just begun. With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 heading into cinemas on May 2, 2014, it looks like The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will be released in 2016/2017, to close off the trilogy. I have to admit, though, the idea of another Spider-Man threequel doesn’t sound great right now. Why? Three words: Spider-Man 3.
