Good news, Marvel fanboys: everyone’s favorite cameo-stealer Thanos has officially been confirmed for Guardians of the Galaxy by director James Gunn himself, courtesy of our friends at Superhero Hype:

“Thanos is a character in our movie,” says Gunn regarding the big bad teased at the end of Marvel’s The Avengers“…He works with Ronan. In my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film.”

He also went on to announce that like everyone’s favorite upcoming sequel Star Wars Episode VII: Don’t F@#k This Up, J.J. Abrams, the movie consists of a combination of practical effects and conventional CGI. A bit of refreshing news considering all the movies that are overeliant on visual effects *cough cough Avatar!*.

While Damon Poitier was Thanos in the brief cameo, it’s not known whether he’s landed the role longterm. I’m hoping he does simply because it would be nice to see some consistency in the casting, plus every actors needs a big break. If Poitier can act as well as he can smile, I don’t see why he shouldn’t be one of the most powerful supervillains who ever lived.

Guardians of the Galaxy is written and directed by James Gunn. It stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Bradley Cooper, Glenn Close and possibly Vin Diesel.
