“PROMETHEUS” DIVES INTO SPACE JOCKEY BACK STORY

If you’re looking for another reason to be stoked for next summer’s movie season, then look no further than Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. The film marks the director’s official return to the Alien universe, his first since the original terrified moviegoers way back in 1979 as part of the new wave of Sci-Fi flicks.

While we don’t yet know the full details of the story, it seems pretty obvious that it’ll serve as a lead-in for the past four movies…or will it? In a recent interview with the kind folks at BleedingCool, Scott had a chance to answer a few questions and to clear up a little bit of the fanboy-induced confusion.

When asked about the Space Jockey:

Yeah, so there you have that… I always thought it was amazing that no one ever asked who he was, and why was he there? What was all that about? I sat thinking about this for a while and thought, “Well, there’s a story! And the other four [films] missed it!” So, here it is.

On Icleand as the location for “the beginning of time”:

It’s actually “The beginning of time”. But I think we’ve got it right… [laughter] So, it will be a pretty good beginning of time.

On why he chose not to include the xenomorph (the aliens from the original film):

They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

Well, there you have it. No xenomorph will appear in the film. Or is Scott just misleading us? Sound off in the comments below.
