Nick Fury Reduced To A Cameo In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

We’ve heard a lot about the new characters that will be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, like Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Ultron and The Vision, but don’t forget that they’re in addition to most of the original cast from the first movie. That’s a whole lot of characters running around fighting robots!

However, for one character, he won’t be getting as much as much screen time as we might have expected. In an interview with Yahoo, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that we won’t be seeing much of Nicky Fury in the upcoming Avengers sequel, his role nothing more than a “glorified cameo.”

I’m just kind of passing by there [in ‘Avengers 2’] you know.  I’m not doing so much, I don’t think. Because, it’s another one of those ‘people who have powers fighting people who have powers’. That’s why I didn’t get to New York in ’The Avengers’. There’s not a lot I could do except shoot a gun.

It makes sense. The Avengers have already assembled together once, so SHIELD isn’t necessary to bring them together. As cool as the organization’s one-eyed leader may be (he took out a jet with a bazooka!), he’s not as crucial to the equation as before.

Not to worry, though: this film won’t be the last time we see Nick Fury. Of the original nine-picture contract Jackson signed with Marvel, he has two movies left after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Recent previews of Captain America: The Winter Soldier have hinted that Fury bites the dust, so his future appearances will either be in flashbacks or he faked his death and is still among the living. The last one sounds more Fury-ish to me.

Nick-Fury

I wouldn’t worry about Fury. There’s always something for him to do in the background, and he always has a plan for everything, like if someone incorrectly states what Marcellus Wallace looks like.

Nick did some work for Wallace until he lost his eye.
