New Official Synopsis For The Dark Knight Rises Released!

Well I didn’t see this coming. Warner Bros have updated the official website for The Dark Knight Rises by unveiling a new synopsis for Nolan’s last Batman movie, shedding light on a few new plot details and confirming a few rumours. If I’m honest, I don’t really like this synopsis. I can’t exactly put my finger on it, but it doesn’t really feel like a professional wrote it. Still, this doesn’t bring down my excitement for the film by any means. I find the line saying Bane brought Batman out of “self-imposed exile” particularly interesting; we’ve never actually read a rumour (or spoiler) saying why Batman returns to fight Bane, but with this synopsis and common sense it’s safe to assume he returns simply because Bane is raiding stock exchanges and blowing up football fields. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.
