Michael Bay’s NINJA TURTLES Film Gets New Name and New Writer

Next year’s new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film hasn’t been greeted with enthusiasm by fans, for various reasons. One of said reasons being the, frankly, weird title choice: Ninja Turtles. Why take out the “Teenage Mutant” part? The point is moot though, since it seems that the film’s name may have been switched due to the bad fan response. The new title seems to be….Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Now, mind you, this isn’t confirmed in any way, but apparently, a logo for the film was shown as CinemaCon, and the title did indeed feature the first two words of the franchise’s name. But hey, I guess fans at least can cross out one negative. But there is more!

Months ago, the script for the TMNT film was leaked, and fans read it in horror. The script was full of very…..interesting choices, including changing the Shredder’s name and having the turtles be aliens. BUT: according to TMNT Lair, the script has gotten a re-write by Evan Daugherty, who wrote the screenplay for Snow White and the Huntsman. Snow White wasn’t very good, but it was hardly the script’s fault, so….this could be just the good news that fans were waiting for!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in theaters June 6, 2014. Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) directed this film, and Michael Bay (Transformers) serves as producer. Whether or not the new re-write makes the film any good, we’ll have to wait and see.
