McClane Heading To Japan And Samuel L. Jackson Might Be Returning In DIE HARD 6

A Good Day To Die Hard didn’t make the sort of impact 20th Century Fox wanted. However, it brought back the violence and fowl language fans expect from the franchise. Something that was missing in the PG-13 visual stunner Die Hard 4. We’ve seen new additions to the franchise with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jai Courtney playing John’s kids. While we haven’t seen any of the supporting characters from the original three films. A new interview with Die Hard 6 screenwriter Ben Trebilcook from WhatCulture (via ScreentRant) giving us an idea what the film will look like. He reveals details on the sixth installment. Which will have call-backs to the original film and Die Hard With A Vengeance.

“Hmm, what can I say? What can I say? What am I allowed to say? OK, without spoiling too much, I can say that McClane is invited to Tokyo by the Nakatomi Corporation to be commended for his bravery and efforts in saving 36 lives, celebrating this on the 30th anniversary of the Naktatomi Hostage Crisis. It’s by no means Black Rain. Perhaps has a slight Rising Sun type tone. It’s also not a double-act buddy-buddy story. McClane began on his own and should end on his own. Of course he’s had assistance in various guises, aiding him in his ventures; but it’s not Lethal Weapon or a Jackie Chan film.”

“A few Japanese fans on Twitter put two and two together when I uploaded a picture of a Katana (Samurai Sword) with some kanji reading ‘Zeus’. Yes, I’ve written Zeus Carver in for Samuel L Jackson. Like I said before, it’s not a buddy-buddy script, but you can’t ignore him. Zeus played a major part in McClane’s life. They went through a lot together. They would certainly, without a doubt, still be in contact.”

You’d win me over setting the film in Japan, that’s for sure. I have a special place in my heart for movies set in Japan. We’ll also be seeing a lot of Hollywood hard-boiled thrillers heading there in the future. Involving the Naktatomi Trading Corporation opens itself up to the Yakuza and other villainous organizations. I’d be on board seeing Samuel L. Jackson re-teaming with Bruce Willis. Since we’ve been seeing a majority of Jackson’s recent projects all taking place in the action genre. Those being Avengers, Oldboy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Secret Service, Kite and Avengers: Age of Ultron. One more wouldn’t hurt and it could amp up the staple buddy aspect of the franchise. I’m sorry but Jai Courtney didn’t make a good partner for Willis. Bruce could use the extra star power, as his last couple of films have flopped.

Are you ready for Die Hard 6 and the possibility of Samuel L. Jackson returning, or are you tired of the franchise?
