Amy Schumer is a rising comedian. Thanks in part, to her Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer. And stints on the network’s celebrity Roasts. It was reported that Schumer was writing her first film script. Which the comedian would also star. Super comedy producer Judd Apatow stepped in to give the project legs. Along with supporting Amy to land a deal with Universal Pictures. Variety now reports that Apatow will now direct the film too. The plot details are unknown but it will be titled Train Wreck. Schumer has a tendency to go dark and raunchy with her comedy. A perfect pairing for the director of The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

Judd has also produced a string of successful comedy films. They include Superbad, Anchorman 1-2, Step Brothers, Walk Hard, Bridesmaids, The Five-Year Engagement, Get Him To The Greek, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Pineapple Express. Which gives me hope that Amy’s original voice could make something unique with Train Wreck. We’ve seen Apatow discoveries such as Seth Rogen (This Is The End), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) and Jonah Hill (21 Jump Street) become massively successful on their own in the genre. Seth is co-directing with Evan Goldberg on his second feature film The Interview. While Hill is wrapping up production on 22 Jump Street. A sequel to the successful 21 Jump Street which co-wrote and produced. Not to mention earning an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in Moneyball. Wiig earned massive box office dollars from Bridesmaids, which she co-wrote. The female driven comedy also landed two Oscar nominations. Including, one for Best Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy and another for Best Original Screenplay. He also helped Lena Dunham get her series Girls on HBO.
